Renovations Are In The Works Here At The Woodbound!

On February 1, 2008, well-known restaurateurs Aylmer & Cindy Given (and several investors) took ownership here at the Woodbound . . . with big plans.

The Givens have operated Aylmer's Grille in downtown Jaffrey for the past five years and have developed it into an award-winning restaurant with rave reviews. Their plans are to bring that same culinary expertise and focus on customer service to the Woodbound Inn.

"Cindy and I have always wanted an inn, ever since our first date," Aylmer Given said recently. "It has always been our dream." It's also a dream Aylmer has been preparing for all his life.

Given attended the Culinary Institute of America and then pursued a career as a chef, perfecting his talents. He worked for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Caesar's Hotel & Casino, Omni Hotels, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and one of the top catering companies in the DC area: Occasions Caterers.

Aylmer & Cindy have already started renovations on the Main Inn. It will include completely refinished guest rooms, each with private baths, and a brand new kitchen and dining room. The kitchen will (of course) be state-of-the-art. Renovations at the inn will also focus on preserving historical aspects of the building, which evolved from a farmhouse built in 1819. "In the past five years we've made an impression on our customers," said Cindy Given. "People know we're all about service." The Givens also plan to bring their expertise to a new, wider selection of catering for weddings, business lunches and parties.

Renovations on the Main Inn & restaurant are expected to be completed by the end of May. Stay tuned for more information.
